What is the word I am thinking of?!?!?!?

This is really frustrating me, I have the word on the tip of my tongue! It mean likes or fondness. For example "The young woman had a _________________ for animals". I know it means when you are fond of something or when you have grown to like or care about something. Sorry this is so vague, it's just really annoying me!
